Day 5: Marburg and Kassel (sort of), Germany

We continued our Grimm brothers tour today, starting in Marburg. Otto Ubbelohde, the illustrator for the fairy tales, drew inspiration from this picturesque town. The main sight was Landgrave Castle, up a very steep hill. Speedy Gonzalez (Lisa) flew up the hill, while I huffed and puffed my way up (note: each of us had our 20 lb. backpacks strapped on). The up close view of the castle and the town below was well worth the hike, as I swear I could see Snow White's evil stepmother peering out the castle windows.

We also discovered that our youthful looks translate the same in Europe as at home. Our welcoming lunch host decided we were definitely 17, not 28.

Unfortunately due to an awesome train delay, by the time we arrived in the city of Kassel, all the attractions on our list were closed. So we'll have a jam-packed day tomorrow!

P.S. We hate sparkling water. No bubbles in our bottles, Danke.
